Meet The Coaches

We are proud to have the best coaches in youth soccer.

Mayowa Omoba

Mayowa Omoba

Coach

You can call me Coach Mayowa but its easier for the kids to call me Coach M. I was born all the way across the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria but Upper Marlboro, Maryland is where I lived now. I think the Regular Show is anything but. I watch it while snacking on some Kit Kats. Or I might snack on some Kit Kats while I read my favorite book, Fahrenheit 451. I most look forward to interacting with the kiddos on while playing soccer.

Alex Nguyen

Alex Nguyen

Coach

Call me Coach Alex, from Lanham, Maryland. I like to power down watching my favorite show Dragon Ball Z and I power up with chicken and PBJ, not at the same time but they are both great. I am teaching soccer to your little ones but still got some learning to do studying Kinesiology and Human Development at University of Maryland College Park. The smiles on all the kids faces pushes me to inspire, motivate, encourage and be a supportive voice for them. My number one color is blue.

Fernando Cantu

Fernando Cantu

Coach

Call me Coach or Coach Fern or Coach Nando or Coach Fernando, either will work. I am here for the new experience I get to have working with the Soccer Superstars on the field. Rats are a no, unless its a movie where they are cooking in a kitchen (Ratatouille). A perfect vacation would be chilling on Miami beach, with a good book like The Magic Tree House and snacking on some salt and vinegar chips. I live in Silver Spring with my four roommates, one brother, one sister and two dogs. Red is my favorite color.

Jairo

Jairo "Jay" Moreno

Coach

Coach Jairo is native of Germantown, Maryland. He is currently studying Graphic Design and enjoys playing Soccer and Art. In Jairo’s spare time he loves watching Premier League Soccer, comedy films and eating Pizza and chips. This is Coach Jairo’s first year with Soccer Shots and he is excited to get started. His favorite part about coaching is EVERYTHING! He loves that he get’s to teach children about the sport that he loves.

Jonathan Kim

Jonathan Kim

Coach

Jonathan is from Gaithersburg, Maryland. He lives with his Mom, Dad, and siblings. Jonathan attended University of Baltimore College and majored in Biology. His favorite food is fried chicken and his favorite color is black. Jonathan’s will watch any TV show and he enjoys reading Everyone Poops. If Jonathan could choose any place to go on vacation, it would be Japan. What Jonathan is most looking forward to with coaching for Soccer Shots is being able to motivate the kids to have fun while playing soccer.

Liam Harrington

Liam Harrington

Coach

I am Liam Harrington, like Liam Neeson but no relation. I come rocking out from Rockville, Maryland. Crabs are a Maryland specialty and are especially my favorite food. When it comes to movies, what is better than The Dark Knight? If I am having some quiet time, Watchmen is my go-to as far as books go. I love playing when its sports or video games. San Francisco was fantastic to visit but I have so much left to see. Ain’t a color above blue but black/red/yellow have a special place in my heart as I trek through Journalism and Psychology classes at University of MARYLAND.

I want to motivate the kiddos to have some fun playing soccer.

Rachel Fortes

Rachel Fortes

Coach

I go by Rachel or Coach Rachel. Inside the cones of Soccer Shot Island, I am exciting for the chance to share my love of soccer to teach the children to love it as well by making them laugh, have fun and show them it is okay to be themselves. Outside of Soccer Shot Island, I am excited for twizzlers/gummy worms, hanging with my dog Milo, singing at the top of my lungs, playing video games or binge watching Game of Thrones (Greatest show ever).

One day when I vacation away from the Island, I would love to take a cruise to the Caribbean anywhere. Before I discovered Soccer Shot Island, I was studying Criminal Justice at Towson University. Her favorite color is blue.
