Alex Reed

I’m currently in my 4th year of kinesiology and work as an athletic trainer. My goal one day is to be doing something to help athletes achieve their athletic goals. My next step for school is athletic therapy and physiotherapy. I’ve been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and actually started in a program very similar to Soccer Shots (17 years ago) and have been playing ever since. I still currently play on a metro women’s team, an indoor co-ed team and outdoor co-ed team. I also played basketball and volleyball throughout school. My favorite thing about coaching with Soccer Shots is seeing kids excited about learning new things and seeing them have pleasure in the simplest things in life.

I grew up playing soccer in elementary school and high school as well as multiple other sports such as volleyball. Unfortunately, I had to stop playing soccer because I injured my knee, but would love to have continued to be able to play. What I love most about coaching is the children. They take pleasure in the simple things in life and they keep me young at heart. They get excited about every little thing and their smiles and laughs makes my heart so content.

Throughout my childhood most of my evenings were spent out on the soccer field. In high school I began playing basketball, rugby and wrested. I currently attend the University of British Columbia where I am in the process of completing my bachelors in dietetics. My favourite part about coaching with Soccer Shots is seeing the way our curriculum makes children smile and laugh while learning!

Currently, I am in my second year of university at KPU in the science and horticulture field. Growing up, I began playing soccer at the age of 5 all the way up until the age of 18 and loved every minute of it. My favourite thing about coaching soccer shots is looking at joy on the kids faces once they have master a skill and watching them incorporate those skills throughout the season.

Growing up I played every sport I could get my hands onto, including hockey, basketball, baseball and soccer. I have continued to pursue soccer and downhill skiing recreationally as a way to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors! My love of teaching has inspired me to one day become a teacher. What I love the most about coaching for Soccer Shots it that I love getting to work outdoors with kids, and getting to be a part of their growing passion for sport. Seeing their improvement throughout the season, and the “aha” moments when they grasp a new skill make it all worth it!

When I was younger I played soccer, softball, and gymnastics for most of my childhood and developed my love for athletics and a healthy lifestyle, which has lead me to my future career path of wanting to work in a hospital in order to help others as a respiratory therapist. My favourite thing about coaching for Soccer Shots is getting to know the kids and being able to see their growth over each season!

I am currently in the Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching program at Douglas College as my goal is to one day become a teacher. Growing up I played every sport imaginable which mainly consisted of soccer, basketball, track, and softball. In high school, I dedicated all of my time into playing softball. I was fortunate enough to win a national championship, play at the collegiate level, and play for Team BC at the Canada Summer Games. What I love most about coaching for Soccer Shots is seeing how excited the kids get when they walk up to the field. I love seeing their big smiles when they score a goal, as well as seeing how much they improve throughout the season.

I have played soccer for 14 years as I started when I was 5 years old and I am currently still playing softball as an adult. One of my biggest passions is teaching and helping others, which has lead me to become an elementary school teacher as my career path. Soccer Shots has given me the ability to apply both of these passions. My favourite thing I I love about coaching is seeing the children’s face light up when we’re are playing games or when they have mastered a new skill!

Growing up I played soccer, volleyball, and basketball and I have still continued to play soccer more consistently up until graduating from high school. I still till try to play most of these sports when I get the chance to with my friends and family in my spare time. Coaching for Soccer Shots has allowed me to work closely with kids and help them develop as individuals. One of the things I love most about coaching for Soccer Shots is being able to connect with the kids and get to know what each child brings whether it be their personality, skills, talents, imagination, while interacting with them as a coach and a friend.

Growing up I was heavily in involved in Soccer, Basketball and Track. I continued to play basketball into my early twenty’s at university and have recently switched back to playing soccer. I currently still play in a women’s league in Abbotsford. Since I have always been involved in sports, I love seeing kids and parents getting involved indoors and outdoors. I love coaching for Soccer Shots because each kid is unique and brings a different skill to the game, whether it be enthusiasm, energy or fundamental skills. No class is ever the same and you learn something new each time you coach, about yourself and the kids you are coaching.

I completed my BA in Psychology from KPU and am currently continuing school to pursue a career in teaching. I loved playing all sports growing up, including volleyball, basketball, rugby, ultimate frisbee, field hockey, and of course, soccer. I still continue to play my two favourite sports – field hockey and soccer – at a competitive level and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon! My favourite thing about coaching for Soccer Shots is that I get to hang out with happy, enthusiastic and awesome kids while teaching them the sport that I love, turning them into the future all-stars I know they will become!

I grew up playing soccer for over 15 years on youth teams and loved every minute of it. Growing up I loved being around kids and it inspired me to pursue a career in a field where I can help kids. My future career goal is to work as a pediatric nurse in a hospital as I want to be able to help young children. Coaching at Soccer Shots has allowed me to combine two of my passions of working with kids and playing soccer.

I am currently in my fourth year with a major in English and a minor in Criminal Justice, hoping to become a teacher in the future. Growing up I played soccer and volleyball throughout highschool as well as being an avid dancer until I got injured, and then I turned to just volunteering as a coach for any sport teams that needed help. My favourite thing about coaching for Soccer Shots is how I can combine my passion for teaching and sports together in one great place and still manage to be silly with all of the kids. I love to see everyone improve their soccer skills in an encouraging environment that allows them to learn something new and have fun at the same time!

I will be certified as an Educational Assistant this coming June by CBC. I played just about any sport available to me as a child. Soccer, volleyball, and tennis being some of my favourites. In my opinion, the best part about being a soccer coach is getting to know a variety of children and to hear the entertaining things they come up with during the games we play.

I just finished my first year of Kinesiology at the University of the Fraser Valley. Growing up I played many sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and many more. However out of all of them, I stuck with soccer. I currently play for the UFV women’s soccer team. One thing I love about Soccer Shots is seeing how happy the children get when they master the skill of the day and knowing that I got to teach them the sport that I love the most!

I grew up playing basketball and soccer and play soccer for the University of Fraser Valley. I enjoyed playing multiple sports throughout school and even though I was not to great at basketball, it taught me that you should never give up and keep practicing. Which is something I preach to all kids at a young age. Coaching for Soccer Shots allows me to have fun while working. My favourite thing about coaching is making the children laugh and smile.

Growing up I tried many different sports, until I stumbled upon Soccer, and have loved it ever since. Soccer gives me this indescribable joy. One of my passions is to help people and I hope to pursue a degree in social work in order to help others and give back to my community. The one thing I love about coaching for Soccer Shots are the kids and their energy. It’s so much fun interacting with them and seeing them being filled with energy and enjoying themselves. It’s like being in a bubble of wonder and fun.

Growing up I played all sorts of sports! Soccer was my first but I also played basketball, volleyball, rugby, and track and field! I just recently got back into playing soccer after ten years! My favourite thing about coaching for Soccer Shots is seeing all of the improvements the kids make! Especially seeing them from starting at 2’s all the way to 5-8’s! The progress is really cool to see! I also like to hear the kids try and say my real name, Sukrita. We shortened it to Rita to make it easier for the kids!
