Julia is a young charismatic individual who loves children and soccer. She has spent most of her life helping, serving, and volunteering in her community and church to give children a positive experience any way she can. Julia has played soccer her entire life and loves being part of a team. She is so grateful and excited to have the opportunity to positively impact children through soccer!
Born and raised in Burlington, Coach Mikayla started playing soccer at the age of 3 with the Burlington Youth Soccer Club. Falling in love with sports, she was a member of many teams, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, field hockey, and ultimate frisbee. Her ultimate passion was soccer and she played for the Burlington Bayhawks for over 4 years. It was here that she developed her skills and learned the importance of playing as a team. With an interest in human movement she attended Windsor University where she received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. In her spare time, she coaches children’s soccer programs with local clubs and loves sharing her passion for the sport with junior players who are so excited to learn. She is now continuing her education at Sheridan College, enrolled in the Athletic Therapy program. Coach Mikayla is so excited to work with the young stars of Soccer Shots!
Coach Karmela was born and raised in Hamilton. Growing up, she was very active, trying her hand at soccer, basketball, volleyball, running and later participating on her high school wrestling team. Being a member of the wrestling team gave Karmela an opportunity to coach the sport to incoming students. Karmela is now in her second year of a BA in psychology at Western University; she hopes to one day become a psychologist and help a wide variety of people. She has experience learning about developmental psychology and has taken a great interest in the complex and fascinating process of child development. Karmela is enthusiastic and dedicated, and she cannot wait to see where her time at Soccer Shots will take her!
Coach Ciara was born in Brampton, and raised in Georgetown. Ciara has been playing soccer since she was 5 years old with Georgetown Soccer Club. In addition to soccer, Ciara also played hockey with the North Halton Twisters. Ciara is currently enrolled at Sheridan College working towards a diploma in Information Technologies Support Services. She is looking forward to helping the children in Halton and Mississauga excel through Soccer Shots!
Coach Shae was born in Mississauga and grew up playing both house league and competitive soccer. While she no longer plays, she still enjoys watching sports with family and friends. Shae is currently a student at the University of Guelph, working towards her Bachelor of Arts Degree in history. After graduation, Shae plans on attending teacher’s college. In addition to babysitting younger cousins, Shae has had years of experience in working with children through running theatre camps, hosting birthday parties at Putting Edge Oakville, and even working as an occasional supply teacher/lunch supervisor at an elementary school in Streetsville, Mississauga. Shae will bring her experience and positive attitude to deliver the most amazing Soccer Shots experience to every child!
Coach Kathryn was born and raised in Mississauga and started playing soccer at the age of three. She played for the Oakville Soccer Club from U10-U18 and also played hockey, lacrosse, and track and field over the years. She attended Wilfred Laurier University, studying Biology and Chemistry, and will be attending U of T’s Masters of Teaching program in the fall. Kathryn loves to help others, find their passions in life, and she is looking forward to guiding young soccer players while delivering the Soccer Shots experience!
Born and raised in Brampton, Coach Josh is a self-proclaimed female version of Pascal Siakam; a basketball player with a passion for playing and coaching soccer. Josh started working with kids when she was in high school and volunteered as a tutor at Kumon. She continues to inspire youth as a basketball coach and high-school mentor. Josh is currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology at McMaster University and hopes to attend medical school in the future. When she’s not studying, you’ll find her playing basketball, cheering on the Toronto Raptors and convincing her dad that she’s the best soccer player in the family. Josh is looking forward to sharing her passion for soccer with our Soccer Shots stars on Soccer Island!
Coach Ola was born in Mississauga and raised in Cambridge. Ola began playing soccer at the age of 4 and continued to play all the way through to high school, where she was a member of her high school varsity team. She is currently attending the University of Guelph and is studying Child Studies with the goal of one day becoming a kindergarten teacher. Ola is excited to be working with the wonderful team at Soccer Shots and looks forward to making a positive impact on her soccer friends by helping them develop both on and off the field. Coach Ola cannot wait to meet everyone on Soccer Island!
Coach Stephanie was born and raised in Mississauga. She’s been playing soccer since the age of 3 and has participated in multiple sports such as cross country, flag football, volleyball and track and field. Her hard work and dedication has earned her awards such as athlete of the year and MVP. Currently, Stephanie is a member of the Women’s Soccer team at Ontario Tech University and is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology. Growing up with athletics, Stephanie knows there’s so many lessons that can be taught through sport. She understands the curiosity of young children and is excited to guide them through a rewarding experience at Soccer Shots.
Coach Lauren was born and raised in Oakville and has been playing soccer since she was 4 years old, both for the Oakville Soccer Club and her high school’s varsity team. Lauren has been heavily involved in her community through her passion for helping the environment, running her own vintage clothing brand, and founding a club for young girls that runs initiatives to help underprivileged girls and women in Halton. Lauren has a lot of experience working with children as a summer camp counselor and swimming instructor for children ages 2-15. For her post-secondary education, Lauren plans on studying business commerce. Coach Lauren is very excited to work with the children of Soccer Shots!
