A native Houstonian, Alex graduated from The Kinkaid School and went on to earn a B.S. in Business at Trinity University in San Antonio. During his junior year, he helped lead the Tigers men’s soccer team to a National Championship and would earn First Team All-American honors his senior year. Coach Alex then moved to Dallas to play a season in Major League Soccer for FC Dallas, and spent the next three seasons with the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer League Second Division. In his spare time, Coach Alex can be found climbing through furniture warehouses in search of mid-century gems, running with his dog “Velcro” or hanging out with his wife Amber and two children, Gracie and Grady at the park.
After graduating from the College of William and Mary, Wade spent 12 years playing professional soccer for clubs including the San Jose Earthquakes, AGF Aarhus in the Danish SuperLiga, Norway’s Fredrikstad Football Club and our very own Houston Dynamo. Wade captained the Dynamo to back to back MLS Cup Championships in 2006 and 2007 and has also represented the Men’s National team on the pitch. After his playing career, Wade spent 7 years coaching for the Dynamo, most recently as the Head Coach. As a true fan of the game and the city of Houston, he has joined the Soccer Shots team to share his passion with the youth of our city. He loves to go on adventures with his wife Haley and their twins, Jack and Logan. Wade is one of the healthiest people you will meet, a vegan, and a talented ultra-marathon runner.
Director of Coaching
Coach Juan spent his childhood in El Salvador, where he grew up playing soccer with various different club teams in the area! Once his family moved to Manvel, Texas, he joined the MHS varsity soccer team. After high school, Coach Juan received his associate’s degree in Kinesiology from San Jacinto College and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Houston. He plans to continue coaching full-time and loves teaching children about soccer – especially his little brother. Coach Juan’s favorite movie is Toy Story and his favorite athlete is Lionel Messi.
Coach Mckhenzie grew up right down the road in Baytown, and grew her love for the game with the Challenge Soccer Club before taking her studies and soccer skills to the University of Houston. While there, she fostered her love for soccer, both as a member of the UH Women’s Soccer team, and as a volunteer coach for local clubs. Coach Mckhenzie’s current hobbies include discovering Houston’s best cheeseburgers, fishing, and spending as much time as possible with her German Shepherd, Ranger. Coach Mickey also gets the award for the most nicknames; she has over 20!
Assistant Program Director
Coach Eli was born right here in Houston and has called it home ever since. He played soccer for several different club teams as a child – a hobby he still pursues today, playing for recreational soccer leagues and joining pick-up games as often as possible. When Coach Eli isn’t playing soccer or coaching, he loves to go camping with his wife and spend time with their four dogs. He also enjoys painting and playing the guitar, even giving beginner music lessons from time to time. His favorite television show is The Simpsons.
Assistant Director of Partner Service
Coach Jacob joins our Houston team all the way from Pennsylvania, where he grew up playing a variety of sports with his two siblings! His love for Pittsburgh and sports led him to attend Duquesne University, where he earned his Bachelors in Sports Marketing. A self-proclaimed trivia master, Coach Jacob has an extensive knowledge of random fun facts! He also has an adventurous spirit, and can’t wait to one day ride the world’s longest zip-line! When not on the field, you can find Coach Jacob at his favorite BBQ spot, Pinkerton’s Barbecue, or catching up on some literature!
Melissa is originally from Angleton, TX, south of Houston, but moved to the big city after high school! She comes to us with many years of experience working with young children at a local preschool, in both teaching and administrative roles. Melissa has played soccer since she was three years old, for club teams in Angleton and Lake Jackson, along with her high school varsity squad. She is working towards a degree in applied behavioral science, and is quite familiar with Soccer Shots, as her son has kicked around with us for a number of seasons. Melissa is a Japanese culture enthusiast, a fan of sushi, Miyazaki movies, and manga, and loves to listen to music or garden whenever she can.
Coach Miguel grew up here in Houston and spent time playing soccer with his sister and favorite dog! After playing for local Division I club teams and for his high school, Miguel played four years at McMurry University in Abilene, where he studied exercise science. Upon graduation, he took a marketing internship in Leeds, England and is currently finishing up a Master of Sports Business from Leeds Beckett University. Miguel has experience with young kids and coaching through his time with the Boys and Girls Club as a gym instructor. He is bilingual in English and Spanish, enjoys hanging out with friends and family, and you can always find him at the gym.
Coach Rachel is originally from California, but moved to The Woodlands, Texas with her brother and loyal dog, Bailey! Rachel went on to represent the Charlotte Eagles while also playing for the Division 1 team at Davidson College. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Science of Psychology, she played professionally in Prague, France and most recently for the Houston Dash! Coach Rachel has experience coaching from summer camps with the Boston Breakers and also with our neighboring franchise, Soccer Shots Woodlands! During her free time, you can find Rachel playing Settlers of Catan or having a bite to eat at her favorite restaurant, Aladdin Mediterranean!
Partner Service Coordinator
Coach Tracy grew up with her older brother here in Houston, but moved to New Jersey in high school, and earned her bachelor’s in communication and dance education from Rowan University! She started playing soccer for Quail Valley at the age of four, and later joined First Colony Eclipse and her high school teams, serving as captain on the varsity squad her senior year. A shoulder injury sidelined her in college, though it opened the door for coaching opportunities with young kids at the club level. Along with soccer, Tracy has a passion for dance. She trained with the Radio City Rockettes in New York and has taught children for over ten years, keeping active in the trade. When she is not in the studio or on the pitch, Tracy loves to swim, and she enjoys time at the park with her pup.
Partner Service Coordinator
Coach Sarah made her way to Houston from Pennsylvania where she grew up with her sister, younger brother, and their dog Scarlett! She began her soccer career early playing for numerous select teams up through her high school days, and eventually as a Viking for Grand View University. Coach Sarah has previous years of coaching experience around her community and thoroughly enjoys making sure that all of her All-Stars have fun while learning the beautiful game! Coach Sarah enjoys reading, music, and has traveling to Africa on the top of her bucket list!
Coach Keath grew up in Spring, Texas with his four older sisters and two exotic pets: a ball python named Monty and a hedgehog named Eve. He has been on the soccer field since age five, and has been the defensive captain on every team that he has played for! Besides his passion for soccer, Coach Keath also loves to hike and would love to one day hike the length of the Pacific Coast Trail! When he isn’t playing soccer, you can find him cheering on the Mexico Men’s National Team or eating some ramen at the Koji Ramen House!
Coach Adrianne, a Houston native, began playing soccer at a very young age. She spent nine years playing with Eclipse and Challenge (D1 clubs), four years on her varsity soccer team, one year with St. Gregory’s University. She also played for three years with Concordia University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology! She has also coached at the high school level, and has her USSF National E license. When she isn’t playing soccer or coaching, Coach Adrianne loves kayaking, rock climbing, and carb-loading with Italian food. Her favorite movie is The Goonies!
Coach Natalia grew up in Bogota, Colombia with her parents and two sisters – one of which is her twin, Coach Tatiana! She played soccer for Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where she studied general business and marketing. Her playing experience also includes the 2012 London Olympic games, and she currently plays semi-professionally for the the Houston Aces. She has coached at Texas United and Westbury Soccer Clubs, and has received her “E” coaching license. Coach Natalia’s favorite color is Soccer Shots orange, and she loves to watch movies and eat Chipotle!
Coach Carly was born and raised right here in Houston, with her two sisters and favorite cat! She started playing soccer when she was five years old, and has only grown to love the game more as she moved through various clubs in the area. Carly graduated from Cypress Springs High School, and plans on attending college to pursue a degree in Education. In her spare time, Coach Carly loves spending time cooking, playing various sports, or grabbing her favorite fast food, Raising Canes!
Coach Tatiana is also from Bogota, Colombia – just like her twin sister Coach Natalia! She has an extensive background with soccer, starting with her full ride to Austin Penn State University in Tennessee, where she graduated as their all-time leading scorer. Coach Tatiana is a member of the Colombian National Team and participated in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games. Most recently, her local career has been with the Houston Aces, and her international career has landed her in Greece to play professionally with Elpides Karditsas of the UEFA Women’s Champions League! Her coaching experience includes the Westbury Soccer Club, and Texas United Futbol Club. She plans to pursue her graduate degree in Sports Management and loves to relax by watching movies and chowing down on sushi.
Coach Rodrigo grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, with a family full of brothers. He is currently studying Sports Management at the University of Houston, and has spent the past three years working as a coach. Rodrigo loves sharing his passion of soccer with kids, but when he’s off the field, you can find him exercising and eating at his favorite restaurant, Hop Doddy. Coach Rodrigo is fluent in both Spanish and English, and also enjoys playing a variety of musical instruments!
Coach Austin’s passion for soccer started early, playing for NC Classic Soccer Club in his hometown of Cary, NC. Austin went on to represent the Liberty University Flames in his college career. After graduating with a degree in religion, he earned his USSF National E License and USSF Referee Certifications. He also assisted and coached at the high school level, as well as for a private club in North Carolina for 8 & 9 year olds! He now enjoys spending his time helping at home, improving his work, helping at his church, or watching his own 5-year old Soccer Shots All-Star go through the program!
Coach Jesus grew up in Queens, New York with his two dogs, Tobi and Jacob! Soccer has always been a part of his life, and he is most looking forward to spreading the love for the sport and having a positive impact on the Soccer Shots community. Coach Jesus also enjoys eating pizza and watching his favorite show, The Walking Dead. He most admires Leonel Messi, and his favorite soccer team is Barcelona. He speaks both Spanish and English, and enjoys spending his free time playing the piano!
Coach Roberto grew up in Mexico with his two younger sisters! He graduated from high school right here in Houston, where he played varsity soccer all four years. While in school, he also spent time coaching soccer for elementary children. Coach Roberto is most looking forward to continuing his passion for coaching soccer, and having a positive impact on children’s lives by developing their confidence on the field! When Coach Roberto is not coaching, he also enjoys swimming, going fishing and taking trips to his favorite Houston restaurant, Lupe Tortilla!
Coach “Jelly” grew up in Houston with her 3-legged dog, Astro, and spends her days playing soccer and drinking her favorite banana smoothies! After she finishes college, she plans to combine her love for education and soccer, and pursue a career as a science teacher and full time soccer coach. Next time you’re on Soccer Island, ask her about her butterfly farm and garden!
Coach Josiah joins Soccer Shots Houston all the way from Florida, where he attended the University of South Florida in Tampa and spent as much time as possible enjoying the beach! Now, as a University of Houston cougar, he is currently pursuing a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Besides his many years of experience playing soccer, Coach Josiah also has a musical side and has been playing guitar and piano for over 18 years!
Coach Quentin is incredibly passionate about athletics and sports! Currently studying kinesiology at the University of Houston, he ultimately plans to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer. Growing up in Mckinney, Texas, Coach Q spent most of his time playing soccer, and even began strength and conditioning training for kids of all ages. When not on Soccer Island, Coach Quentin is working on perfecting his cooking skills and learning to speak Spanish.
Coach Rex, originally from Kansas, kicked off his love for the game while playing for his local club team for the majority of his childhood, and then on to play four years at the collegiate level! After his personal career, he earned his USSF Class C Coaching License, as well as his USYS National Youth License. Coach Rex is passionate about providing the youth of Houston with the experience and joy that the game has brought him over the years! In his free time you can find Coach Rex hanging out with his family, hiking, or working on his basketball game!
Coach Jaylon joins the Soccer Shots Houston team all the way from Denver, Colorado! She’s currently attending Texas Southern University, where she’s focusing her studies on Biology. Coach Jaylon has an extensive soccer background: training with the Colorado Rapids developmental team, as well as the Colorado Real! One day, Coach Jaylon hopes to visit Brazil and witness her favorite squad – the Brazilian National Team – win a home game!
Coach Melissa E.
Coach Melissa grew up just south of Houston in Manvel, TX with her older brother and sister! She began playing soccer at the early age of 7 for the local youth soccer club, and eventually played for the varsity team at Manvel High School. Coach Melissa is currently pursuing her degree in Kinesiology at the University of Houston, and hopes to one day attend medical school for Physical Therapy! You can usually find Coach Melissa exploring the outdoors, playing soccer, or lifting weights!
All the way from Bay Minette, Alabama, Coach Destiny grew up as the oldest of two siblings and found her passion for sports and the outdoors early on in life! Her passion eventually landed her a spot on her high school soccer team, as well as a few years on various teams in local leagues around the city. You can find Coach Destiny enjoying a steak at her favorite restaurant, Longhorn Steakhouse, helping around the community, or working on her Spanish!
An avid Barcelona FC fan, Coach Josue is passionate about every aspect of the game! Originally from Mexico, Coach Josue and his four siblings made their way to the Houston area where he played for local club team Space City Futbol Club, and then on for the South Houston High School Trojans! After high school, he attended the University of Houston and graduated with his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Coach Josue has plans to one day become a Physical Education teacher, and can be found studying for his teacher certification at his favorite restaurant, Chipotle!
All the way from Germany, Coach Maria recently tied the knot and found her way to Houston with her husband Erick and their dog, Cooper! With plenty of playing experience in Germany, she comes with the passion and excitement to make an impact on our All-Stars! In her spare time, Coach Maria enjoys being outdoors, going to the gym, or reading a good book. Coach Maria hopes to one-day travel to the beautiful island of Hawaii! A fun fact about Coach Maria: she is fluent in German, and can play the akkordeon (accordion)!
Coach Rashel spent her childhood in Mexico playing soccer with her older brother, Coach Roberto! After relocating to Texas, she begin competing at a competitive level and joined a few local soccer clubs including Texas United, Challenge and the Albion Hurricanes! Coach Rashel currently attends the University of Houston – Downtown where she is working on her Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology. When she is not on Soccer Island, Coach Rashel enjoys working out at the gym, solving puzzles, and playing Mario Kart!
Coach Nicole is originally from Ohio, but has long since called Houston home! She developed her love for soccer at a young age during her time living overseas in Libya and has continued sharing her love of the game with children in the community. After earning a degree in Communications from Texas Christian University, she went on to earn a certificate in animal-assisted therapy from Denver University. Coach Nicole plans to continue her studies and earn a child-life specialist certificate to begin practicing with children and animals! During her free time, you can find Coach Nicole playing the guitar, tackling a puzzle or tending to her herb garden.
Coach Scotty made his way to Houston from Nebraska where he grew up with his sister and younger brother! He kicked off his love of the game in middle school, through high school and then onto 4 years of collegiate soccer between Northeastern Junior College and Doane University. Coach Scotty is passionate about the game and has most recently spread his knowledge as a coach for Omaha Northwest High School! In his free time, you can find Coach Scotty exploring the outdoors, playing soccer, or cycling!
Coach Juan R.
Coach Juan grew up here in Houston and developed his love of the game with influence from his parents and older sister! After graduating from Westside High School, Coach Juan went on to play for various amateur leagues in Houston and is currently playing on the semi-pro team, Athletic Houston FC! One day, Coach Juan hopes to earn a starting position on a pro-level soccer team! In his spare time, you can find him strumming a tune on the ukulele or cheering on his favorite soccer club, Tottenham Hotspur!
Originally from New York, Coach Erin has spent a majority of her life honing her soccer skills on various club teams under the leadership of her dad! She’s eager to inspire the youth of our community and hopes to spread the same joy that soccer has given to her over the years. Coach Erin is a huge Tottenham Hotspurs fan, and loves snacking on Chick-Fil-A or Peanut Butter M&M’s! When not on the soccer field, you can find Coach Erin training a local high school women’s lacrosse team or painting with her daughter!
Coach Brayan’s hometown is Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, where he grew up with his three sisters and two dogs. His soccer experience includes playing with the Lamar High School varsity team and participating in the Academia Tigres Houston Club. His favorite movies are the Star Wars films and he absolutely loves Mediterranean food. He is currently attending the University of Houston and plans to pursue coaching.
Coach Alicia has always called Houston, Texas home along with her sister and 3 brothers. She started playing soccer at the young age of 7 and eventually scored a position on the Jarvis Christian collegiate team. Alicia earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology but plans to continue her studies to earn a Masters in Athletic Training. During her spare time, Alicia enjoys fishing, going on a long bike ride or taking a spontaneous road trip!
Coach Alexa, a native of California, came to Texas on a scholarship to play collegiate soccer for the Lady Longhorns at the University of Texas! She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development and hopes to continue her studies to become a nurse. Coach Alexa is an avid FC Barcelona fan and one day plans to check off traveling to Belize from her bucket list. When she’s not on the field, you can find her watching a movie or testing out the latest steakhouse.
A native Houstonian, Coach Abraham is passionate about providing a beloved growth experience for every child through soccer! He graduated from Cypress Lakes High school and is now enrolled at the University of Houston where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Structural Analysis/ Design. When he’s not coaching, Coach Abraham can be found reaching a new level on the latest video game or meeting up with friends for a game of pick-up soccer!
Coach Denyse grew up in Mexico with her sister and two brothers then moved to Texas at a young age. She attended Jersey Village High school where she held a leadership role as the varsity team captain and continued her soccer career in her first collegiate years at Lone Star College. Denyse is currently enrolled at Houston Community College studying Film Production and Editing. Her dream is to be a film director or producer! When she is not on the field, you can find Denyse exploring her creative side by drawing or painting!
Coach Luis was born and raised in Mexico City but moved to Texas after high school with his family. He is currently attending Lone Star College to continue his studies in business and hopes to find a career path that ties into soccer. Luis has many years of experience playing in Mexico for the youth America and Chivas Futbol Club, which has influenced him to share his passion with the younger generation of players. During his spare time, he enjoys watching the latest soccer matches, joining a pick-up game or playing some Fifa!
Coach Kasara was born in Port Lavaca but made her way to Humble with her parents and 2 younger brothers at a young age. Throughout her youth, she played recreational soccer and even played in the intramural league. She earned a bachelor of science in exercise and sport sciences at Texas Tech University then soon after jumped into training and coaching at Soccer Shots Humble for a few years. Given her coaching experience, she is excited to join the Houston team and continue teaching children life-long skills in a positive environment! During her free time, she is traveling to 1 of the 50 states, which she intends to cross off her bucket list, or enjoying the great outdoors!
Coach David is a local Houstonian attending the University of St. Thomas to pursue a bachelor’s in communication. He cultivated a love of soccer starting at the age of 6, playing for local club teams, school teams, then for a season of 3rd division soccer abroad in Taiwan. David is now playing with a competitive Houston adult league. He has worked with Houston Independent School District as an academic tutor and coached one of the youth soccer teams for 3 years. When Coach David is off the field, he enjoys playing the accordion, watching the latest soccer match or working on his FIFA skills to take the 1st place prize at the Microsoft FIFA tournament!
Coach Chris grew up in the bay area and currently lives on a restoration boat with the support of his wife and 2 fluffy cats! He is a current student at the College of the Mainland working on his Associate’s degree in general studies. Coach Chris intends to continue his education to pursue a career in coaching and physical training! He started playing sports at a young age and grew to love soccer by playing with local clubs and indoor leagues. During his spare time, you can find him restoring his boat, working on his juggling skills, or grabbing a bite to eat with his wife at Carrabba’s Italian Grill!
Coach Daniel grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil with his parents then moved to the Houston area with his wife as a young adult. As a professional video gamer, he earned a Bachelor’s of Public Relations in Brazil, but has since found a new path and plans to start his Master’s degree soon! From a very early age, Daniel’s life has revolved around soccer by playing with friends and watching every soccer match, especially his favorite team A.S. Roma. When he’s off the field, you can find him playing video games, hiking with friends, or practicing his fluency in 1 of 4 languages!
A native Houstonian, Coach Ryan is passionate about providing a beloved growth experience to every child through sports! After graduating from Kempner High School, he continued his studies in History at the University of Houston to pursue his dream of becoming a US History teacher! Ryan is an avid sports fan, especially the Houston Dynamo, and has even coached a few seasons of men’s softball. When he’s not on the field, you can find him playing golf, catching a movie with his wife, or writing a few more pages of his first book!
Coach Leo and his wife recently moved to the Houston area from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil! Coach Leo attended Faculdades Integradas Héllo Alonso where he played collegiate soccer and graduated with a Bachelor of Communications. He continued his studies in Brazil and earned an MBA in Sports Marketing and Management, which has led him to further his experience in performance analysis with the Brazilian soccer women’s national team. Coach Leo is fluent in Portuguese and enjoys playing a game of footvolley or strumming the guitar!
Coach Ashley has recently moved to Houston to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston. She leaves behind her parents, younger brother, and sweet Golden Retriever, Koda, in New Mexico where she grew up. Ashley has tons of experience playing soccer for various club teams throughout her youth, on to 4 years of high school varsity soccer, and she continues to play in recreational leagues in the area. During her spare time, she enjoys learning about the latest robotic advancements, cheering for her favorite team Liverpool, or grabbing a bite to eat at any Vietnamese restaurant!
Coach Abner is a local Houstonian who grew up with his parents, younger sister, and Kobe, his bull terrier pup! Abner started his soccer journey in his teens with West Houston Soccer Club and played collegiate soccer for a few years before transferring to the University of Houston. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and dreams of becoming a physical therapy technician at a local hospital! When he’s not on the field, you can find Coach Abner playing video games, listening to music, or catching a pick-up game of basketball or soccer with his friends!
