A native Houstonian, Alex graduated from The Kinkaid School and went on to earn a B.S. in Business at Trinity University in San Antonio. During his junior year, he helped lead the Tigers men’s soccer team to a National Championship and would earn First Team All-American honors his senior year. Coach Alex then moved to Dallas to play a season in Major League Soccer for FC Dallas, and spent the next three seasons with the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer League Second Division. In his spare time, Coach Alex can be found climbing through furniture warehouses in search of mid-century gems, running with his dog “Velcro” or hanging out with his wife Amber and two children, Gracie and Grady at the park.
After graduating from the College of William and Mary, Wade spent 12 years playing professional soccer for clubs including the San Jose Earthquakes, AGF Aarhus in the Danish SuperLiga, Norway’s Fredrikstad Football Club and our very own Houston Dynamo. Wade captained the Dynamo to back to back MLS Cup Championships in 2006 and 2007 and has also represented the Men’s National team on the pitch. After his playing career, Wade spent 7 years coaching for the Dynamo, most recently as the Head Coach. As a true fan of the game and the city of Houston, he has joined the Soccer Shots team to share his passion with the youth of our city. He loves to go on adventures with his wife Haley and their twins, Jack and Logan. Wade is one of the healthiest people you will meet, a vegan, and a talented ultra-marathon runner.

Coach James has spent most of his life playing soccer – from middle school all the way to college at Maranatha Baptist University. After graduating from MBU in May 2012 with his degree in Theology, Coach James moved to Houston to work as a high school principal and pursue his Masters degree in Divinity, which he graduated with in May 2017. He and his wife of 4 years, Angela, have two labs, Pixie and Remi. In his free time, Coach James loves golf, hiking, and archery.
Coach Mckhenzie grew up right down the road in Baytown, before taking her studies and soccer skills to the University of Houston. While there, she fostered her love for soccer, both as a member of the UH Women’s Soccer team, and as a volunteer coach for local clubs. Coach Mckhenzie’s current hobbies include discovering Houston’s best cheeseburgers and spending as much time as possible with her German Shepherd, Ranger. Coach Mickey also gets the award for the most nicknames; she has over 20!
Coach Eli was born right here in Houston and has called it home ever since. He played soccer for several different club teams as a child – a hobby he still pursues today, playing for indoor soccer leagues and joining pick-up games as often as possible. When Coach Eli isn’t playing soccer or coaching, he loves to go camping with his wife and spend time with their four dogs. He also enjoys painting and playing the guitar, even giving beginner music lessons from time to time. His favorite television show is The Simpsons.
Coach Santiago, a University of North Florida graduate, brings an extensive coaching background to the Soccer Shots Houston team – coaching club soccer for six years, and then as an undergrad assistant for the UNF men’s soccer team! In his free time, he enjoys watching Barcelona play, as well as snacking on Chick-fil-a and sour gummy worms! Coach Santiago has a number of talents, including speaking multiple languages: English, Spanish, French, and even some Italian!

Melissa is originally from Angleton, TX, south of Houston, but moved to the big city after high school. She comes to us with many years of experience working with young children at a local preschool, in both teaching and administrative roles. Melissa has played soccer since she was three years old, for club teams in Angleton and Lake Jackson, along with her high school varsity squad. She is working towards a degree in applied behavioral science, and is quite familiar with Soccer Shots, as her son has kicked around with us for a number of seasons. Melissa is a Japanese culture enthusiast, a fan of sushi, Miyazaki movies, and manga, and loves to listen to music or garden whenever she can.

Coach Quinny was born and raised in Chicago before she moved to Keller, Texas. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Sports Medicine and Psychology from Rice University, she went on to earn an MS in Sports Management from UNT. Not only does she have over 17 years of soccer experience, she also trained with the Houston Dash! When she is not playing soccer, she loves to travel, play ping pong, and learn about penguins!

Coach Emily, a Baylor University alum, just returned to Houston from California with her new husband Casey! Coach Emily brings a wealth of coaching experience to Soccer Island after working at both Episcopal High School and St. John’s here in Houston, as well as coaching club soccer in California! She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Ministry and Leadership and when she’s not hitting the books you can find her sipping on good coffee and watching our very own Houston Astros!
All the way from Breda, The Netherlands, Coach Yasmine’s interest for soccer was sparked at an early age while spending her free time playing with her sister and three brothers. Growing up, she played a variety of sports from golf to rowing, and has spent over a decade playing field hockey. Coach Yasmine’s passion for sports drove her to earn her Master’s in Sport Management from the London Metropolitan University, and still motivates her to run half marathons – she even met her husband at the NYC Marathon! In her free time, Coach Yasmine enjoys spending time with her husband, and her own two Soccer Shots All-Stars, Maarten and Loet!
Coach Juan spent his childhood in El Salvador, where he grew up playing soccer with various different club teams. Once his family moved to Manvel, Texas, he joined the MHS varsity soccer team. After high school, Coach Juan received his associate’s degree in Kinesiology from San Jacinto College and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He plans to continue coaching full-time and loves teaching children about soccer – especially his little brother. Coach Juan’s favorite movie is Toy Story and his favorite athlete is Lionel Messi.
Coach Miguel grew up here in Houston with his sister and trusty dog. After playing for local Division I club teams, and for his high school, Miguel played four years at McMurry University in Abilene, where he studied exercise science. Upon graduation, he took a marketing internship in Leeds, England and is currently finishing up a Master of Sports Business from Leeds Beckett University. Miguel has experience with young kids and coaching through his time with the Boys and Girls Club as a gym instructor. He is bilingual in English and Spanish, enjoys hanging out with friends and family, and you can always find him at the gym.
Coach Enrique grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia for most of his youth, and gained many years of experience helping his mom run her own daycare. He found his passion for soccer early on, and was the goalkeeper for the youth Bolivian national team. After moving to Texas, he played on the Lamar Consolidated high school varsity squad and with the Eclipse Soccer Club. Enrique is currently studying Sports Administration at the University of Houston, and is excited to grow with the Soccer Shots Team. He is well versed as a youth soccer coach working for multiple clubs and camps in the area. Enrique enjoys taking his dogs to the dog park, hitting the trails, and staying in tune with the latest sports news.
Coach Jolee made her way to Houston from Rydal, Georgia where she grew up with three dogs and an age defying cat, now 16 years old. Jolee balances her time off Soccer Shots Island pursuing a degree in communication and honing her class management skills as a pre-k teacher. She has a passion for the game and loves to play recreationally with friends and her new fiance Coach Kike, also a Soccer Shots instructor. In her spare time, Jolee can be found enjoying the outdoors while hiking, biking, or working on her downward dog.
Coach Brennan recently moved to Houston from Lafayette, Louisiana, where he grew up with his six siblings and four pets. He is currently studying business at Lone Star College, and hopes to pursue a career in sports marketing after graduating. Before coming to Texas, Brennan played many years for local club teams and his high school, and coached at several soccer camps for young kids. Besides his passion for the sport, he loves a good video game, and spending time with his family whenever he can.
Coach Tracy grew up with her older brother here in Houston, but moved to New Jersey in high school, and earned her bachelor’s in communication and dance education from Rowan University. She started playing soccer for Quail Valley at the age of four, and later joined First Colony Eclipse and her high school teams, serving as captain on the varsity squad her senior year. A shoulder injury sidelined her in college, though it opened the door for coaching opportunities with young kids at the club level. Along with soccer, Tracy has a passion for dance. She trained with the Radio City Rockettes in New York and has taught children for over ten years, keeping active in the trade. When she is not in the studio or on the pitch, Tracy loves to swim, and she enjoys time at the park with her pup.
Coach Luis calls Houston home, growing up in the Bayou City, as the only son in a household of girls. One might say he is a natural coach as he had lots of practice chasing after his sisters and showing them the right way to play the beautiful game. Luis brings an excellent soccer background to the job having played for the Houston Lions, Texas Rush, Dynamo Academy, and Chavez High School. He now plays for HCC’s club team and is pursuing a degree in finance. When Coach Luis is not dreaming up new skills on the field, he can be found strumming the strings of his bass guitar.
Coach Rodrigo grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, with a family full of brothers. He is currently studying Sports Management at the University of Houston and has spent the past three years working as a coach. Rodrigo loves sharing his passion of soccer with kids, but when he’s off the field, you can find him exercising and eating at his favorite restaurant, Hop Doddy. Coach Rodrigo also speaks fluent Spanish and English, as well as plays several musical instruments.
Coach Bryan’s hometown is Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, where he grew up with his three sisters and two dogs. His soccer experience includes playing with the Lamar High School varsity team and participating in the Academia Tigres Houston Club. His favorite movies are the Star Wars films and he absolutely loves Mediterranean food. He is currently attending the University of Houston and plans to pursue coaching.
Coach Natalia grew up in Bogota, Colombia with her parents and two sisters – one of which is her twin. She played soccer for Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where she studied general business and marketing. Her playing experience also includes the 2012 London Olympic games and she currently plays for the Houston Aces Women’s Team. She has coached at Texas United and Westbury Soccer Clubs, and has received her “E” coaching license. Coach Natalia’s favorite color is orange, and she loves to watch movies and eat Chipotle.
Coach Tatiana is also from Bogota, Colombia – just like her twin sister Coach Natalia! She has an extensive background with soccer, starting with her full ride to Austin Penn State University in Tennessee, where she graduated as their all-time leading scorer. Coach Tatiana is a member of the Colombian National Team and participated in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games. She also plays for the Houston Aces Women’s Team. Her coaching experience includes the Westbury Soccer Club, and Texas United Futbol Club. She plans to pursue her graduate degree in Sports Management and loves to relax by watching movies and chowing down on sushi.
Coach Adrianne, a Houston native, began playing soccer at a very young age. She spent nine years playing with Eclipse and Challenge (D1 clubs), four years on her varsity soccer team, one year with St. Gregory’s University. She also played for three years with Concordia University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology! She has also coached at the high school level, and has her USSF National E license. When she isn’t playing soccer or coaching, Coach Adrianne loves kayaking, rock climbing, and carb-loading with Italian food. Her favorite movie is The Goonies!
Coach Jonathan is originally from Colombia, but is now proud to call Houston his home. As a child he trained with the Millonarios youth soccer team before playing for his high school varsity team at Westside High School. Coach Jonathan also plays with the Houston Community College soccer league as he pursues his associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene. His coaching experience includes volunteering for Braeburn Elementary School. In his spare time, Coach Jonathan loves to play the drums and watch movies.
Coach Austin’s passion for soccer started early, playing for NC Classic Soccer Club in his hometown of Cary, NC. Austin went on to represent the Liberty University Flames in his college career. After graduating with a degree in religion, he earned his USSF National E License and USSF Referee Certifications. He also assisted and coached at the high school level, as well as for a private club in North Carolina for 8 & 9 year olds! He now enjoys spending his time helping at home, improving his work, helping at his church, or watching his own 5-year old Soccer Shots All-Star go through the program!
Coach Carly was born and raised right here in Houston, with her two sisters and sweet cat. She started playing soccer when she was five years old, and has always had a great passion for the game. Carly graduated from Cypress Springs High School, and plans on attending college to pursue a degree in Education. Carly has helped coach her nephews in soccer, alongside being a player herself! She loves cooking and Raising Cane’s. She is a big fan of the Women’s USA National Team! Outside of playing soccer and coaching, Carly plays other sports, like basketball and volleyball.
Coach Autumn is currently studying to become an elementary P.E. teacher at Houston Baptist University! She grew up in Austin, TX, with two older sisters, one brother and a cat! It was in Austin where Coach Autumn first learned to play soccer. Her love for the sport blossomed into a coaching position for several different programs throughout the city! Now that she lives in Houston, she continues to play for her university team, and loves to watch her favorite team, the U.S. Women’s National Team! When Coach Autumn is not coaching, playing or watching soccer, she is probably enjoying some Sour Punch Straws, hanging out with her cat or just walking around on her hands!
Coach Gaby grew up in our favorite city, Houston, Texas, with her parents, three brothers and her three dogs! She has played soccer for the past 6 years, and is excited to share her knowledge and love of the sport with all our soccer players! When she is not playing or coaching soccer, she enjoys reading, listening to music and prepping for nursing school! The most amazing place Coach Gaby has visited is the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, located just outside of Berlin, Germany. What an amazing experience that must have been! Coach Gaby speaks both Spanish and English, and has been studying Chinese for 3 years! Her hope is to become a fluent Chinese speaker in the future.
Coach Jesus grew up in Queens, New York with his two dogs, Tobi and Jacob! Soccer has always been a part of his life, and he is most looking forward to spreading the love for the sport and having a positive impact on the Soccer Shots community! Coach Jesus also enjoys eating pizza and watching his favorite show, The Walking Dead! He most admires Leonel Messi, and his favorite soccer team is Barcelona. He speaks both Spanish and English, and can also play the piano!
Coach Roberto grew up in Mexico with his two younger sisters! He recently graduated from Spring Woods High School, where he played varsity soccer all four years. While at school, he also spent time coaching soccer for elementary children. Coach Roberto is most looking forward to continuing his passion for coaching soccer, and having a positive impact on children’s lives by developing their confidence on the field! When Coach Roberto is not coaching, he also enjoys swimming, going fishing and taking trips to his favorite Houston restaurant, Lupe Tortilla!
Coach Marco grew up here in Houston, Texas with one younger brother, and started playing soccer when he was 5 years old. He still has fun playing in pick up games with friends, and enjoys watching his favorite team, FC Barcelona. He also spends time playing with the Houston Baptist University recreational team, and used to coach for younger recreational leagues. Outside of soccer, Coach Marco’s favorite hobbies are working out and collecting comic books! Coach Marco spent 7 years learning Italian, and even had lunch with the Italian Ambassador!
Coach Maggie grew up in Michigan with her older brother, their cat, Jordan, and dog, Apollo! She started playing soccer on a youth team when she was 5 years old! Starting soccer so young had a huge impact on her life, and she believes it is important to develop teamwork at such a young age, get outside to exercise and have fun while learning! Coach Maggie continued to play on the varsity team in high school, and played club through college. Along with her playing experience, Coach Maggie has trained 5-13 year old soccer players for a youth program in Michigan! She has a Master’s Degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Social Psychology at University of Houston! Upon completion of her degree, she hopes to begin teaching in UH Department of Psychology.
Coach Elizabeth is a current University of Houston Downtown student preparing to be a teacher, and she is thrilled to be coaching again! She has a lifetime of soccer experience, and her memories from the sport drive her to bring the same joy she experienced to every child. She also knows what it means to be part of a team since she has comes from such a big family! When not playing or coaching soccer, she stays busy pursuing her other passions, music and painting, and she is currently mastering the ukulele!
Coach “Jelly” grew up in Houston with her 3-legged dog named Astro, and spends her days playing soccer and drinking banana smoothies. After she finishes college, she plans to become a science teacher and full time soccer coach. When she’s not preparing the next generation of Soccer All-Stars, she stays busy on her butterfly farm and garden.
Coach Josiah joins Soccer Shots Houston all the way from sunny Florida, where he attended the University of South Florida in Tampa and spent as much time as possible enjoying the beach. He is currently pursuing a degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Houston. Besides his many years of experience playing soccer, he also played college football. But that’s not all! He is also incredibly musical, and has been playing guitar and piano for over 18 years!
Coach Quentin is incredibly passionate about athletics and sports! Currently studying kinesiology at the University of Houston, he ultimately plans to become a Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer. Not only did he grow up playing soccer in Mckinney, Texas, he has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach with kids of all ages! When not on Soccer Island, Coach Quentin is working on perfecting his cooking skills and learning to speak Spanish.
Coach Sebastian grew up in Colombia before moving to Houston, where he now studies at Houston Community College. He ultimately has aspirations to be a Sports Journalist and work for ESPN. He has been playing soccer all his life, and grew up in a family of excellent goalkeepers. In addition to his current Soccer Shots coaching experience, he has also served as a coach’s assistant and team captain at the collegiate level. Coach Sebastian’s dream is to travel to every major soccer stadium in the world, and he has already been to 14 different countries to watch professional soccer games!
Born in New York as the youngest in a family of all girls, Coach Mike eventually made his way to the great state of Texas, where he studied Kinesiology at UTSA. His ultimate dream is to be a full time coach, and he loves helping others achieve their athletic goals, especially in regards to soccer. A self-proclaimed foodie, Coach Mike is specifically passionate about Jamaican food. He also collects only one of the following: coins, shoes, or stamps. Can you figure out which it is?
Coach Kayla S
Originally from California, Coach Kayla is currently a student at Texas Southern University, and ultimately plans to open a pharmaceutics regulatory business. She has been playing soccer since she was 5 years old, and is now a proud member of the women’s soccer team at TSU. Not only is she an excellent soccer player, she is also brings tons of coaching experience with her to Soccer Island! When not pursuing soccer, she is with her dog Lola, whom she rescued after Hurricane Harvey!
Joining the Soccer Shots team from Naperville, Illinois, Coach Chris developed his love for soccer at the young age of four while playing in his backyard with his two brothers! During his college years, he spent his free time playing competitively for the intramural team, all while earning his double major in Psychology and Religious Studies! Coach Chris has many hidden talents, from speaking Cantonese, Mandarin and French, as well as playing six different instruments! Fun Fact – Coach Chris can recite all of the U.S Presidents in order!
A Texas native, Coach Briana has grown up all over the great city of Houston with her younger brother and sister, and their dog Macho! As the captain of both her high school and local league team, Coach Briana realized her passion of working around the sport of soccer, as well as her mission to be a positive leader in every aspect of the game. She eventually intends to transition her positive outlook into a career as a Paramedic! When not instilling her passion for the sport in her All-Stars, Coach Briana enjoys doing any types of arts and crafts!
Coach Rex, originally from Kansas, kicked off his love for the game while playing for his local club team for the majority of his childhood, and then on to play four years at the collegiate level! After his personal career, he earned his USSF Class C Coaching License, as well as his USYS National Youth License. Coach Rex is passionate about providing the youth of Houston with the experience and joy that the game has brought him over the years! In his free time you can find Coach Rex hanging out with his family, hiking, or working on his basketball game!
Coach Sarah W.
Coach Sarah made her way to Houston from Pennsylvania where she grew up with her sister, younger brother, and their dog Scarlett! She began her soccer career early playing for numerous select teams up through her high school days, and eventually as a Viking for Grand View University. Coach Sarah has previous years of coaching experience around her community and thoroughly enjoys making sure that all of her All-Stars have fun while learning the beautiful game! Coach Sarah enjoys reading, music, and has traveling to Africa on the top of her bucket list!
Coach Keath grew up in Spring, Texas with his four older sisters and two exotic pets: a ball python named Monty and a hedgehog named Eve. He has been on the soccer field since age five, and has been the defensive captain on every team that he has played for! Besides his passion for soccer, Coach Keath also loves to hike and would love to one day hike the length of the Pacific Coast Trail! When he isn’t playing soccer, you can find him cheering on the Mexico Men’s National Team or eating some ramen at the Koji Ramen House!
Originally from New York, Coach Erin has spent a majority of her life honing her soccer skills on various club teams under the leadership of her dad! She’s eager to inspire the youth of our community, and hopes to spread the same joy that soccer has given to her over the years. Coach Erin is a huge Tottenham Hotspurs fan, and loves snacking on Chick-Fil-A or Peanut Butter M&M’s! When not on the soccer field, you can find Coach Erin training a local high school women’s lacrosse team or painting with her daughter!
Coach Raven is a current student at the University of Houston working on her degree in Biology, and intends to earn her master’s in Education Administration! She has dedicated a majority of her life to the game of soccer, bringing over 15 years of playing experience to her coaching dynamic. She has a passion for working with children, and utilizes her energetic personality to bring every session to life! When not coaching, Coach Raven can be found playing soccer or volleyball, or singing her latest favorite tune!
A Sam Houston State graduate with a Bachelors in Art, Coach Jose has played the beautiful game for as long as he can remember, and even spent a few years playing semi-professionally! He has since transitioned his passion to coaching at various levels, and most recently for the Lone Star College Cyfair men’s team! In his free time, Coach Jose enjoys playing the piano for his wife of four years, Caitlin, and their newest daughter, Cecilia!
Coach Jaylon joins the Soccer Shots Houston team all the way from Denver, Colorado! She’s currently attending Texas Southern University, where she’s focusing her studies on Biology. Coach Jaylon has an extensive soccer background: training with the Colorado Rapids developmental team, as well as the Colorado Real! One day, Coach Jaylon hopes to visit Brazil and witness her favorite squad – the Brazilian National Team – win a home game!
A Missouri City native, Coach Lauren is an all around Houston fan – both a University of Houston graduate, and a Houston Dynamo fan! Her passion for soccer began as a child, where she played for multiple years on a local club team. Coach Lauren is passionate about impacting children through sports – she is currently studying to become a Physical Education coach! Coach Lauren comes from an extended family, and enjoys hanging out with them as much as possible – including her energetic pup, Tillie!
Coach Melissa E.
Coach Melissa grew up just south of Houston in Manvel, TX with her older brother and sister! She began playing soccer at the early age of 7 for the local youth soccer club, and eventually played for the varsity team at Manvel High School. Coach Melissa is currently pursuing her degree in Kinesiology at the University of Houston, and hopes to one day attend medical school for Physical Therapy! You can usually find Coach Melissa exploring the outdoors, playing soccer, or lifting weights!
Coach Saul, a Texas native, brings a wealth of experience to Soccer Island after serving as both a referee and the head coach of Lamar Soccer Club! He is currently enrolled at the University of Houston and is pursuing a degree in Sports Administration. When Coach Saul is not playing soccer, he enjoys playing FIFA, hitting the gym, and hanging out with his dog, “Sasha”! He also enjoys good food and has developed into an excellent chef!
A native Houstonian, Coach Selena has been kicking around Soccer Island for local clubs for the majority of her life. She recently graduated from the University of Houston, where she also served as a member of the UH women’s soccer team! Go Coogs! Most recently, Coach Selena had the opportunity to play professionally in Israel for FC Kiryat Gat! A fun fact about Coach Selena – she has a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do!
Coach Danny, a recent University of Houston graduate, grew up right outside of the city limits in Manvel, Texas with his two siblings, and three cats! With his Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from UH, Coach Danny has dreams of one day becoming a school counselor. His soccer experience includes playing in local youth leagues as a child, and then on to play intramural at the University of Houston. Coach Danny is fluent in Russian, and enjoys keeping up with his favorite sports teams or playing video games!
A University of Houston student, Coach Julio is currently focusing his studies on Electrical Engineering and can be found building circuits in his free time! He started kicking around on Soccer Island at the age of six, and has continued to play with his high school team, and then on to the intramural squad at UH! Some fun facts about Coach Julio is that he’s fluent in Spanish, he’s a big Barcelona fan, and has skydiving in Brazil on the top of his bucket list!
