Coach Zach

Coach Zach

Owner

Coach Zach graduated from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS and has a long history with sports. While growing up, his dad was a Physical Education teacher at a private school in Florida. He spent every summer and every day after school in the gym or on the field playing. This leads him to have a healthy active lifestyle as an adult. He believes that having a positive first impression with sports can make a huge difference in a child’s life. Zach’s mission is to provide that for every child in Soccer Shots New Orleans.

Coach Brandon

Director of Partner Services

Coach Brandon is a New Orleans native with a rich history in soccer. He began playing soccer at age 9 and was selected in high school as the Player of the Year for his district (2008) while attending St. Martin’s Episcopal High School. Coach Brandon went on to play two years of college soccer at Millsaps College where he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy. Since graduating, Brandon has gone on to live in Mexico where he started an economic development program aimed at raising the income of rural seamstresses, worked in mobile technology, and has been coaching children with Soccer Shots since 2017. As Director of Partner Services, Brandon helps build and maintain relationships with our many school and park partners in New Orleans. He loves his job and can’t wait to help get your child more active, more confident and scoring more goals.

Coach Hazel

Communications Coordinator

Coach Hazel was born here in New Orleans, Louisiana but was raised in Miami, Florida. She is a proud first-generation American with Cuban and Nicaraguan roots. Hazel is one of Soccer Shots NOLA’s two Operations Coordinators. She developed her logistical skills as the manager of a Miami logistics company and her love of children working at her hometown VBS. She was a member of the Young Leadership Council and got her introduction into sports programming through starting Parish Kick, a St. Bernard Kickball League. Coach Hazel participates in community events, from Jazz Fest to 504ward. She has two bull terriers, Jacques-Imo and Enzo, whom she loves very much.  She can’t wait to get on the field and make a positive impact in your family and child’s life.

Coach Kevin

Director of Coaching

Originally from West Hartford, CT, Coach Kevin studied Movement & Sports Studies with a minor in Athletic Coaching at Springfield College in Springfield, MA. Kevin first came to New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina on multiple occasions to help rebuild homes damaged by the storm. It was during this time that he decided to make New Orleans his home. Before joining the Soccer Shots team, he was a Sports & Games Director for an overnight summer camp, a Program Coordinator for a national non-profit, and a Camp Director for a day camp specifically for children with behavioral challenges. Kevin spends his free time playing a variety of sports as well as creating and listening to music.

As Director of Coaching, Kevin is responsible for leading the Coaching Support team as they recruit, hire, and train new coaches as well as maintain the highest possible quality of programming. He is passionately committed to developing positive behaviors in young children and providing a healthy introduction to sports.

Coach Harry

Team Coordinator

Coach Harry is from Birmingham, England and has been playing soccer since he was 4 years old. He has been in the United States since 2010. He played college soccer at Cumberland University in Tennessee and holds the school record for most goals scored. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. He then moved on to do his master’s degree while coaching at St Catharine College just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. He then moved to Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky to be an assistant coach. He moved to New Orleans after marrying his wife Maddie who is a New Orleans native in March 2015. They have a dog named Drogon who they love very much!

In his role as Recruitment Coordinator, Harry handles hiring the coaches while also working for the coaching support staff to help assist and develop our coaches here at Soccer Shots New Orleans. He can’t wait to make an impact around the community of New Orleans by helping as many children develop their soccer skills and their character!

Coach Amelia

Operations Cordinator

Amelia is a graduate of Tulane University, where she obtained her degree in economics (numbers are her jam!)  She was a US Park Ranger for two seasons before returning to New Orleans to work at Soccer Shots as our Operations Coordinator. When she’s not doing Soccer Shots things, she’s working on one of the political campaigns she’s helping out on or thinking about her next Fantasy Football move! Coach Amelia also has two foster pups named Lula Mae and Tugboat.

Coach Ashley

Coach Ashley grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she played soccer starting at the age of five.  She played competitive soccer and was a part of the Olympic Development Program. She went on to play soccer in college in Dallas, Texas where she pursued her degree in Church Ministries.  In 2011, she moved to New Orleans where she became a leader at a church where she teaches kids weekly. Being able to be a positive influence in kids life is something she is very passionate about.

Coach Andrew

Coach Andrew is a born and raised New Orleanian, having graduated from Brother Martin and the University of New Orleans. From the time he was 4, and until he graduated from high school, Coach Andrew played soccer at the club and high school level, serving as team captain of his club team for 4 years. Working with children of all ages, his passion is coaching and child development. He has coached children for 6 years now, gaining experience as a coach with a local indoor sports facility. Coach Andrew also lived in Columbus, OH for two years where he worked for the Boys and Girls Club and served as a preschool assistant for a year. Coach Andrew’s other passions include running, playing guitar, reading, and writing.

Coach Mary is a born and raised New Orleanian. She graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School and studied psychology at Spring Hill College. She was an educator at Audubon Zoo and Aquarium before coaching at Soccer Shots. She is passionate about working with kids and building their character. When she is not on the soccer field she loves spending time in nature, and can usually be found in her kayak on Bayou St. John.

Coach Purl

Coach Purl is a Massachusetts native with a love of all things outside. She played soccer from first grade into high school and appreciates the community youth sports flourishes. She graduated from Emerson College with a degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing and currently writes for Girl Soup Media when not chasing dragons and soccer balls on the field. She believes exercise and sunlight are the antidotes to almost any ailment.

Coach Wyman

Coach Wyman is a New Orleans, Louisiana native. He grew up playing soccer at Plantation Athletic Club on the Westbank. After studying at Oral Roberts University, Coach Wyman moved back to Louisiana on the Northshore.  Coach Wyman has 10 years of experience working with kids as a children’s and youth pastor. He has also coached basketball at Pelican Park in Mandeville. Coach Wyman loves not only teaching soccer skills, but character values as well.

Coach Bryce

Coach Bryce is a New Orleans native who graduated from Tulane University with a B.S. in Environmental Biology and a minor in Psychology. Soon after college, Bryce moved to Orlando to participate in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World, where he got the unique opportunity of using immersive storytelling to engage with people of all ages from all over the world. Following the program, Bryce moved back to the Crescent City and began working as a Camp Counselor at the Louisiana Children’s Museum. There, he embraced the museum’s mission of providing children with a safe and enriching environment and, in doing so, developed a passion for childhood education. Bryce is excited to bring his childlike imagination and high energy to the Soccer Shots team.
