It is his goal with Soccer Shots to pass those lifelong benefits on to the next generation. Coach Stephen was born in Colorado, raised in California, lived in Florida, had a brief stint in Texas and has made a home in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a huge baseball fan and grew up playing on the sandlots and the city little leagues. He also tried to play basketball, football, and tennis. Some of his favorite childhood memories were growing up on the farm, going to grandpa’s house for history lessons and looking at the stars through the telescope. He studied history at Reedley College in California and took a short break from education and joined the honorable United States Air Force. After a four-year enlistment, he then pursued his dream in education in Theology and Youth Ministry. He has recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Education and minoring in History and Youth Ministry at Leavell Bible College. If Stephen was not a youth pastor or coaching in New Orleans, he would probably either be a paleontologist because he loves dinosaurs or be a missionary in Uganda. His hero is his father, who has shown him how to be a leader, a teacher, and how to be missionary driven no matter what the cost. If he had one week anywhere around the world, it would be going back to Israel to study their rich history. The craziest thing that Stephen ever did beside marrying the woman of his dreams, was when he completed Basic Military Training with top honors and was awarded “Warrior Flight”. Coach Stephen finds great joy in being a coach and enjoys personal impressionable impact on each child’s life in a positive way. Getting down to their level and seeing the world through their eyes is a beautiful thing. Coaching with Soccer Shots allows you to be silly, fun and give children confidence in themselves and in the game. Coach Stephen has his United States Soccer Coach F License.
Born and raised in Jackson, MS, Coach Sarah started playing soccer at a young age. Though it might have been because the local soccer complex was down the street from where she lived, Sarah Jane and her siblings lived the soccer lifestyle of Saturday games for many years. When she stopped soccer for other less athletic efforts in middle school, the lessons of confidence, cooperation, and responsibility stuck with her. While in college at Ole Miss, Sarah Jane was the site manager for a tutoring program for 1st and 2nd graders. This community involvement sparked a passion for enrichment programs for children. After graduating with degrees in English and Psychology, Sarah Jane turned her efforts towards marketing and business development at Jackson Academy. However, a move to New Orleans in 2014 allowed SJ to return to working with children. After a summer working for Holy Cross’s Summer Camp, she once again moved back into the business sector. With two years of business experience under her belt, Sarah Jane has finally returned back to her passionate roots of working with children. She is excited to teach the same lessons that she learned years ago playing soccer to kids every day! She knows the deep impact that youth sports can have on a child’s life and can’t wait to share her passion with the New Orleans community!

Coach Trent was born in Kentucky. In Kentucky, his father introduced him to all kinds of sports including golf, basketball, baseball, cross-country, bowling, and of course soccer. Some of his favorite memories from his childhood and teenage years include playing and participating in these sports with his father, mother, and siblings. During college, Trent continued to participate in several sports, including golf, intramural frisbee, and intramural bowling.
In August 2013, Trent moved to New Orleans to attend New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) to study Theology. He graduated from NOBTS with his Master of Divinity in December 2017 and is now in the Ph.D. program. During his Master’s studies, Trent met and married his wife, Lorien. After they complete their education, they hope to minister among immigrants in the U.S.
Trent has served as an Associate Pastor at West Bank Baptist Church in Marrero for the last three years. If he weren’t serving at a church, coaching soccer, or still in school, he would likely work at a golf course as a club professional or teach history in the public-school system.

Encouraging children to believe in themselves, be a good teammate, and helping children to learn soccer skills at a young age makes being a soccer shots coach a rewarding experience.
