Coach Joe moved to San Diego from Arkansas to pursue Coastal
archaeology at San Diego State. He has played soccer his entire life. He’s
been coaching and working with kids for over ten years, and loves working
with Soccer Shots, making kids laugh, and talking with his students. He is
passionate about education, positive communication, and the importance
of sports and physical activity in children’s development.
He is an archeologist and has an
archaeological project on the
Coronados Islands of Mexico.
He used to have 30 chickens, 20
ducks and a goat!

Coach Papa was born and raised in Senegal, a small country in West Africa.
Soccer has been a big part of his life and has helped him in good times and
bad. He loves soccer, and believes that it’s the best sport in the world. Papa
loves working with kids, especially those who have lost a parent, because he
lost his father at a young age and his soccer coach had a huge, positive
impact on his life. His dream is to provide the same encouragement and
positive outlook to all the kids he interacts with.

Coach Janelle feels blessed and privileged to be a part of Soccer Shots! She
has specialized in Early Childhood for the past 8 years, and loves being able
to use soccer as a platform to positively impact children’s lives!
She is grateful that Soccer Shots has given her the opportunity to work
closer with children and to develop her skills as a teacher and as an advisor

Coach Phil has been in the Soccer Shots family for over three years. He
came for the soccer, but he stayed for the fun that comes with teaching
kids. He is a certified soccer coach, referee, and substitute teacher who has
taken courses in early childhood education.

Coach James has been coaching youth soccer for almost ten years, since he
first volunteered as an assistant for his younger sister’s rec team. He has
also coached at the High School level and played in College, and worked as
a summer camp counselor for 5 years. He loves helping kids fall in love
with the beautiful game and hopes to give them a foundation to develop
their skills if they want to pursue the game as they grow.
He’s a published poet.

performed with an improv
comedy group, and hosted his
own radio show.

Coach Anaiah wanted to coach for Soccer Shots because it combines two
things that she loves. For the longest time, she wanted to be a teacher and
she’s been playing soccer since she was four. And so, Soccer Shots put the
two together and she was hooked. She loves working with the children and
helping them discover the joy of soccer.

Coach Adrian has been coaching for 3 years, starting from Soccer Shots
Connecticut. He says Soccer Shots allows him to connect with the game he
loves so much and to pass it on to eager and excited young boys and girls.
Outside Soccer Shots, he works in ABA Therapy where he serves as a
Clinical Supervisor working with families and children on the autism
spectrum. His goal is to make this game fun for our participants and spark
a joy for being on the field that will last for years to come.

Coach Kerah has played soccer and worked with children her whole life.
She loves seeing children learn and grow, and says it is all the more
rewarding if she is the one teaching them. She’s thrilled to coach at Soccer
Shots because she knows how important a coach can be in a child’s life.

to San Marcos to attend Cal State

Soccer Shots appealed to Coach Scott because he likes working with
children and it seemed like a fun way to make extra money as well as make
an impact in the next generation’s life. He moved to San Diego this past
summer and is really excited to see how he is going to grow as a coach at
